Home Decorating Trends For Spring

After a long and dreary winter it’s hard not to love springtime in Adelaide, unless you’re a hayfever sufferer of course!

But spring’s first warming rays of sunshine, early pops of garden colour and dazzling blue skies… don’t we just lap them up!

What we don’t love is the way that longer and lighter days highlight grimy windows, grubby kitchen cupboards and the cobwebby, dust-bunnified corners around the home.

Once we have the annual spring clean ticked off our to-do list, we may feel the urge to refresh our home with a few new bits and pieces, possibly some furniture updates, perhaps a planned renovation or maybe buy a whole new home!

So, whether we’re simply refreshing our soft furnishings or scouring the Adelaide real estate pages for a stylish new home, what are the decorating trends for spring 2023?

Sustainability

In every area of the home from the build to the toilet paper, eco-friendly sustainability and energy-efficiency remain on trend. Building with environmentally-friendly materials is a great way to do our bit for planet in the long term, while recycling, decorating with repurposed pieces, and using organic fabrics in our home furnishings all helps.

Colour

Earthy tones, natural textures and block colours are favoured design trends this spring. The careful use of muted organic colours add warmth and energy to quietly neutral tones. While neutrals are still favoured, the mood is softened with colour not just in furnishings but also in fixtures and fittings.

Multifunctional living spaces

The left-over from covid is work-from-home spaces that are here to stay. It might be a dedicated home office, a study nook incorporated into open plan living or an upstairs retreat which includes a stylish desk and built-in shelving. But personality is also a key theme this spring, so a creative use of shape and texture makes a work-from-home space anything but drab.

Indoor plants

As the minimalist mood of recent years takes an overdue back seat, greenery accompanies tactile textures to put the life back into a sleek and simple canvas. Big tropical plants are on trend this spring as they add colour, texture and movement to living areas while enhancing the seamless connection to our beloved outdoor spaces. And while real indoor plants have obvious aesthetic appeal, they also help to purify the air!

So if our budget is limited we can just add some splashes of colour, some organic fibre rugs and a pot plant or two to keep up with the spring home styling trends this year.
