Here at Boffo, we’ve had a long term love affair with Walkerville.
There are many sides to this beautiful inner city suburb, just six kilometres from the CBD - it’s old and young, vibrant and relaxed, elegant and simple. There’s no one thing that makes Walkerville so wonderful, but we have managed to narrow it down to our top five.
The heritage
Some of Adelaide’s most beautiful old buildings and homes have a Walkerville address. Grand churches, villas and bungalows, many surrounded by majestic gardens, make Walkerville well worth a walk on a sunny day. And when you’ve worked up a thirst, pop into the Sussex Hotel and admire its art deco elegance.
The cafes
Walkerville has become one of Adelaide’s best destinations for coffee lovers. On Walkerville Terrace there’s the Coffee Institute, Jeeez Louise, Food for You Especially, and Nest Bistro Coffee Bar.
The Linear Park trails
Been a tough day? There’s nothing like unwinding along Linear Park. At Walkerville, you have some of Adelaide’s best walking and cycling trails in your backyard. Depending on your level of fitness and energy, you can head all the way up to the hills or down to the beach.
The location
As well as being just minutes from the city, you have Norwood, North Adelaide and Prospect all close by, so you’ll never be short of ideas for dinner or a night out with friends.
The lifestyle
Of course, all of this adds up to a pretty good lifestyle, especially when you add Walkerville’s many recreational facilities like parks, ovals and tennis courts. You don’t need a million dollar budget to enjoy it either - as well as the grand villas, Walkerville’s property market includes everything from one bedroom units to modern, but affordable, apartments.
