Selling in Spring? It Starts in Winter!

Just when you thought the cold winter weather was a good excuse to stay indoors and watch the footy, we’re here to tell you that if you’re putting your home on the market in spring, winter is when you need to start preparing.

There is work to be done before listing your home for sale, if you want to attract the right buyers at the right price.

1. Sort out any maintenance issues. Check that your roof, gutters, eaves and downpipes are clean, clear and not leaking, and remove black mould and grime from driveways.
2. Declutter and deep clean the house, boxing up and storing personal knick-knacks that shouldn’t be on display during open inspections.
3. Tackle the winter-weary garden – buyers don’t want to see rampant weeds, fallen leaves, unkempt lawns, dead trees or poor drainage areas!

Once the house and garden are in order and the marketing campaign is prepared, you could go ahead and present your home to the market in late winter, or you could wait until spring when property market activity increases.
