Have you noticed a few things that need fixing or upgrading around the house recently?
If you're isolating or stuck at home, why not get stuck into a few DIY projects while you're there? Here are a few ideas that will get you off the couch for a few days atleast.
1. Splash out on some paint
There's no easier or affordable way to update your home than with a can of paint. You might want to spruce up a tired old room or bring a splash of colour to a drab corner. Perhaps you'd like to make a front door statement or even change your kitchen cabinets? Pinterest is a great source of inspiration for the latest trends, colours and effects.
2. Do it your shelf
If the clutter in your house is getting out of control, it might be time to get organised with some new shelves, cabinets and racks. You can never have enough storage space, so look at areas where it would come in handy, like the kitchen, laundry, the hallway, under the stairs, and unused corners.
3. Get growing with a veggie garden
The events of the last couple years have inspired many Aussies to become more self sufficient. Building a veggie and/or herb garden is a great way of saving money and ensuring your produce is fresh and organic. Even if you don't have the space in the garden, you can grow veggies or herbs in pots or tubs. Most vegetables and herbs are seasonal so look at what to plant now for a bumper harvest in autumn.
4. Improve your street appeal
You don't get a second chance to make a first impression, so an attractive and tidy front yard is an important asset for your home. If things have become a bit overgrown or the lawn is struggling, why not give your front yard a lift? Prune the shrubs, plant some now ones, pull out the weeds, fertilise the lawn and, maybe even paint the front fence or letterbox if they've seen better days.
5. See your home in a new light
Lighting is another way to dramatically change the look and feel of your home, and it doesn't have to cost a fortune. Change the colour temperature of your rooms by switching your light bulbs from cool white to warm white, or vice versa. You can create more usable and beautiful outdoor areas at night with lighting too. Pinterest will spark your creativity and show you how lighting can dramatically improve an outdoor entertaining area or garden. Just don't attempt any of the actual electrical work yourself.
6. Plan your next renovation
If the job's too big to do on your own, like a kitchen or bathroom renovation, you can you use your down time to get planning. Start researching the look and features you're after, and get in contact with some tradies or renovation companies for quotes.
